Gravity was born out of years of composing and performing – slowly, almost unnoticed. As the double bass became more central to my musical thinking, the compositions began to shift. More space, silence, and breath emerged. The melodies expanded, and the music found its own path.
In the sound of the ensemble, the double bass, saxophone, guitar, grand piano, drums, and wordless vocals form a landscape where sensitivity and power walk hand in hand. The music thrives on intense interaction, acute listening, and the courage to live in the moment.For me, Gravity is not just a new band. It is a new phase as a composer and musician – a home for music that has long waited for the right moment to be born.

SÖDERBACKA-MATIKAINEN QUARTET
Active since 2019, the SM4 jazz quartet traces its roots back to Eevalotta’s transformative musical journey to Northern Ireland in 2016. After a spontaneous session at a jazz jam, Eevalotta and acclaimed Irish drummer David Lyttle found an instant musical connection, sparking an ongoing international collaboration led together with guitarist Martin Söderbacka.
SOUL WHAT? feat. JOONATAN RAUTIO
Formed in 2008, the soulful and groove-centered Soul What? feat. Joonatan Rautio soul/jazz quintet is Eevalotta’s first flagship ensemble. Blending deep jazz tradition with infectious rhythms, the band has carved out a steady, respected presence on the Finnish jazz scene for nearly two decades.
